New user agent for robots
Google has announced a new user agent for robots.txt- Googlebot-News
Now if you want to exclude any of your website’s section from Google news to index, you can easily do that with this user agent.You can just write few lines in robots.txt and it will instruct Google to act accordingly.
Few Examples:
For inclusion of pages in both Google web search and Google News:
User-agent: Googlebot
Disallow:
For Inclusion of pages in Google web search, but not in News:
User-agent: Googlebot
Disallow:
User-agent: Googlebot-News
Disallow: /
This means that no files are disallowed from Google’s web crawler, called Googlebot, but the user agent of ”Googlebot-News” is blocked from all files.

Geographic settings in google
If we talk about region specific domains having extensions like .co.uk , .au etc. its pretty easier to trace out for search engines which country those domains belong to.But what about .com/.org etc. With these kind of domains,it is little confusing for search engines to rank them on appropriate search terms.

Region tags will also be amongst one of the search factors for any search term.Webmasters can easily let Google know about their geographic details with their webmaster tool.Just choose Site Configuration > Settings > Geographic Target. With this tool,you can assign your country/region with your domain name and get the benefit of this tool.So if a user is searching for “furniture showroom in london”, there are chances your website can be listed on search engine listings if you have selected the appropriate region in your webmasters settings.
How this feature will work
Its worth notice that this feature will work only if the search term is not associated with the region specific Google domain. For eg. Bob is trying to search for “car showrooms london” from google.co.uk, region tag will be not considered in this case as both search term and google domain are from same location.But if Alex is searching for the same keyword from Australia, search results will consider the region tag set by webmasters.
